Rated 100% California Congress of Seniors

For his work on behalf of seniors, Assemblyman Leland Yee received the highest possible scores from California's most respected and active senior advocacy groups:

  • Rated 100% - California Congress of Seniors

  • Rated 100% - California Alliance for Retired Americans

The Congress of California Seniors is a nonprofit education and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of seniors and their families. California Alliance for Retired Americans (CARA) is a statewide nonprofit organization representing more than 100 affiliated groups and a combined membership of over 700,000 Californians. CARA is the official state affiliate of the Alliance for Retired Americans, which is a 3 million member (and growing) national organization.

Yee voted in favor of all 16 bills on CARA's scorecard, including legislation to increase access to affordable prescription drugs, strengthen the inspections of mobile home parks for health and safety, extend the 60 day notice for tenants being evicted without cause, and require specific financial institutions to report suspected financial elder abuse.

Another piece of legislation contained on the CARA scorecard was AJR 13, authored by Assemblymember Alberto Torrico (D-Newark) and co-authored by Speaker pro Tem Yee, a resolution that called on the U.S. Congress to protect Social Security and not privatize the system.
