Protecting children from sex predators
At an age when most children are riding bikes and playing with toys, hundreds of thousands of American children
are being sexually exploited and sexually abused. As a social worker, child psychologist and elected official,
Leland Yee has been at the forefront of efforts to protect our children.

| Child prostitution. Authored and passed law sponsored by San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris
that toughened penalties against pimps and johns who sexually exploit and abuse minors

| Megan’s Law. Supported the state’s Megan’s Law database which notifies communities of registered sex
offenders in their neighborhoods

| Child Sex Abuse. Helped lengthen the statute of limitations for prosecuting child sex abuse and voted to allow child
victims in child abuse cases to testify by closed circuit television to protect them from their attackers

| Felony Sex Crimes Against Children. Extended the statute of limitations for felony sex crimes against minors
|

| Sex Offender Parolees. Prohibited high-risk sex offender parolees from residing near public or private schools
