Combating Identify Theft
Over 40,000 Californians were victims of identity theft in 2004; nearly 60 million
Americans were exposed to serious identity theft by lack of security at large corporations.
That’s why Leland Yee strongly supported and helped pass the Identity Theft Prevention Act,
a comprehensive bill to protect Californians who rank third among all states in reported
cases of identity theft. Assemblyman continues to protect consumers from identity theft
and punish identity theft criminals.
