Cracking Down on Internet Fraud
Last year alone, internet crimes resulted in $265 million worth of losses to American
consumers. One of the worst culprits is SPAM. These unsolicited emails are more than just
irritating – they are dangerous. Spammers use “spoofed” e-mails to lead consumers to
counterfeit websites designed to trick recipients into divulging financial data such as
credit card numbers, account usernames, passwords and social security numbers. That’s
why Assemblyman Yee has worked in Sacramento to crackdown on this kind of internet fraud.
