Californians have first-hand experience with the kind of corporate fraud committed by
Enron and other companies that nearly bankrupted our state. Assemblyman Yee has been a
strong voice to make corporations liable for the actions and encourage and protect
employees when they blow the whistle on fraud and abuse.

liable for civil penalties of up to $1 million if it had knowledge of illegal acts
and failed to notify shareholders and the attorney general or appropriate government
agency.

whistleblowers and increased the kinds of whistleblower activities that are protected

| Penalties for Employer Retaliation. Toughened penalties
for employer retaliation against whistleblowers

filed by large corporations against residents who are exercising First Amendment
rights to sue large corporations regarding their behavior
